Search Engine Optimization
By Mikala Lindhardt

If you haven’t figured out from my blog yet, social media is growing so there is a constant need to update and educated ourselves. This blog post is to serve as tips on how to use search engine optimization (SEO) tools to the fullest.
In an article written by Search Engine Land there are 21 tips and techniques on how to more effectively use SEOs. I will just mention and expand on a few of them.
Before I mention three techniques mentioned in the article by Search Engine Land, let me just provide one of my own techniques that I think grabs people’s attention, that is geotagging. An example of geotagging would be placing a photo or a graph or a video to grab people’s attention for the purpose of promoting yourself.
Now onto the three tips and techniques…
The first one I think is worth mentioning and an important part of growing a business is committing yourself to the process. If you want to get better, you need to commit yourself. An example I would relate this to would be sports. Growing up I played volleyball and was able to get fairly good in my technique and won a few games in my high school days. Those skills and knowledge, however, were not acquired over night. It took constant work and practice. It took pain and sweat. It took a willingness to work and be better. That is what must happen if you want to be good and beat the competitor.
Working with SEO probably won’t require too much sweat, but it will require discipline and a willingness to better yourself everyday. This include always looking for ways to improve and maximize your resources. Search Engine Land said, “SEO isn’t a one-time event. Search engine algorithms change regularly, so the tactics that worked last year may not work this year. SEO requires a long-term outlook and commitment.”
The second tip I would like to mention is become a student of SEO, forever. The great thing about social media and working with technology is it’s always changing so it is not too hard to be a student of it. If you don’t become a student to it and ask questions and research your questions, you won’t learn and you won’t be utilizing all the resources you could to be more successful than your competitor.
The third and final technique I would like to talk about is how creating a blog and participating in other blogs will help maximize your knowledge and basic skills of SEOs. Participation is key. If you want to get your name out there, then you are going to need to put it out there yourself. This isn’t something that magically happens. You will have to put in the time and the work to get started.
Search Engine Land said, “Search engines, Google especially, love blogs for the fresh content and highly-structured data. Beyond that, there’s no better way to join the conversations that are already taking place about your industry and/or company. Reading and commenting on other blogs can also increase your exposure and help you acquire new links.”
Hopefully you learned how to better your technique when using Search Engine Optimization.
